Question What is a Liana period cup?
AnswerLiana period cup is a reusable cup made with 100% medical-grade silicone that is worn internally inside the vagina and collects the period flow.

Naturally odorless, biocompatible, and chemical-free, Liana period cup is a healthy and sustainable alternative to pads. Because it has a capacity of 3–5 times as compared to a regular pad, you can wear it for up to 12 hours before emptying. Yes, that means you only have to empty it twice a day, and can enjoy your full sleep at night.

Question Is it safe to use?
AnswerYes, Liana period cup is totally safe to use as it is made with 100% medical-grade silicone. Medical-grade silicone is toxins-free, plastic-free, latex-free, and only used for medical purposes.

Liana period cup is approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) USA for biocompatibility. It is safe to use inside the body for a longer period of time and does not have any side effects even if you wear it all day long for 12 hours.

Question Does it cause an infection?
Answer

The period cup itself doesn’t cause any kind of infection because its material is completely safe to use inside the body.

However, the bacteria that causes the infection may be present in your hands. So we always recommend you wash your hands with soap before inserting or removing the cup.

Valuable Tip:

It holds true for pads, underwear, or tampons as well. So doesn’t matter which product you are using, please always follow hygienic practices during periods and there won’t be any chance of getting the infection.

Question Does it hurt? Is it painful? Is it uncomfortable?
AnswerNot at all. You won’t feel a thing if the cup is inserted properly.

In fact, it is so comfortable that even sometimes we forget about we are on periods and we have a cup inside us 🙂

Question Who can use the Liana period cup?
AnswerThere is no age limit for using the Liana period cup. Anyone who is having periods can use the cup and enjoy their life at full potential. In some situations, before using the cup please consult with your doctor if you had TSS in the past or using an IUD.
Question How to use the cup?
AnswerLiana period cup is very simple and easy to use. Here are the steps

1- Sterilize the cup by putting it in hot boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes.

2- Wash your hands with soap.

3- Fold the cup and insert it into the vagina.

4- Once the cup is inserted successfully, it will create a perfect seal to prevent leakage. Wait for up to 12 hours for the cup to collect the blood flow.

5- Now it’s time to remove the cup, insert a finger and pinch the base of the cup to remove the suction seal. Take the cup out slowly and empty it.

6- Rinse the cup well and re-insert again.

Things to consider:
  • Make sure that the cup doesn’t touch the base of the pot while sterilizing.
  • If it feels dry you can use water as a lubricant while insertion.
  • If you have a heavy flow you might need to empty the cup before 12 hours.

Question It looks so big, how will it fit in?
AnswerFirstly, the cup is made of soft medical-grade-silicone, if you fold it, it becomes very narrow and the insertion is easy.

Secondly, the vagina is an elastic muscle that can expand itself when anything is inserted inside and it can retain its shape back when that thing is removed. The vagina can stretch itself enough even to accommodate a baby so a cup is very small compared to a baby.

That is why it will fit in without any problem.

Question How will I know the cup is full?
AnswerNormally, the cup can be used for 8 to 12 hours easily. But you will know immediately after using it in your first cycle when you need to empty the cup.

Also, there are measuring labels on the cup that helps you to track your period flow quantity during heavy and lighter days.

Question Will it stretch my vagina?
AnswerNo, the cup won’t stretch your vagina as the vagina is a muscle that retains its shape when we remove the cup from the inside.

You’ll know how soft and moist the cup is, and how easy it is to make room for a period cup.

After you remove the cup, the vagina will return to its compressed state. It’s therefore not possible for a period cup to stretch the muscle tissue of the vagina.

Fact:

Age and pregnancy are two factors that will ultimately cause a small amount of loosening in your vagina.

Question Is it possible for my cup to be lost inside the vagina? Or go up to the Uterus or stomach?
AnswerNo, it is impossible for the cup to be lost inside the vagina. That’s because the vagina is opened from one and closed on the other end called the cervix.

The cervix is very small as compared to the cup, it acts as a barrier inside the vagina and doesn’t let anything get inside the uterus. The cervix only opens up two time

1- During your periods the blood came through the cervix so it opens up less than the size of a needle. This space is not enough for anything to pass through.

2- During the active stage of labor the cervix opens up from 6cm to 10cm. Obviously, you shouldn’t wear the cup during childbirth.

Basically, there is no possibility for the cup to be lost inside the vagina or go up to the uterus or stomach.

Question Can I use the cup right after childbirth?
AnswerIt is not recommended to use the cup right after childbirth. The reason is that your body and vagina are recovering from the birth process. This healing process takes generally 6 weeks but is different for everybody. So wait for 6 weeks at least and then you can use the cup without any problem.

If you are already using the cup so after the vaginal birth (normal delivery), you might need to use a bigger size if you feel the existing one is small.

Question Will the period flow travel back to uterus when we lie down?
AnswerNo, the period flow will never travel back from Vagina to Uterus.

Because the blood flows from the uterus to the vagina through the tiny hole called the cervix. It is not possible for the blood to flow back into the womb, not even if you’re upside down. The muscles of the uterus push the menstrual blood out actively from the uterus. So it only sends blood from the uterus to the vagina, not the other way around.

Question Why should I use the Liana period cup instead of disposable pads?

Question Why Liana period cup is 2999 pkr and other cups starts from 500 pkr?
Answer

Period cups are available in the market even starting from 300 pkr.

But the cost is the second preference since the cup is used inside the body for a longer period of time so health should be the first and foremost priority.

The cups which are cheaper are usually made of plastic, rubber, latex, or simple silicone which are hazardous to health in the long term. They are made with low-quality material that is easily available in the market, which is why they are cheap to buy.

While our cup is made with 100% medical-grade-silicone. Medical-grade silicone is toxins-free, plastic-free, and latex-free silicone only used for medical purposes.

Liana period cup is approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) USA for biocompatibility. It is safe to use inside the body for a longer period of time and does not have any side effects even if you wear it all day long for 12 hours.

It has ISO 13485 and RoHS certifications. Due to all these high standards and high-quality materials used, it has high manufacturing costs.

Question Are there any disadvantages of using the cup?
AnswerThere are no disadvantages known at the time. The only difference in using a pad is that you don’t have to be aware of your body as it is used outside the body. While the cup is used inside the vagina so need to know the basic anatomy of your vagina. For example, you may need to insert your thumb or index finger to insert or remove the cup. It’s not a disadvantage, it is more like a learning curve. We promise once you are comfortable using the cup, you are never going back to pads.
Question Why my cup is leaking?
AnswerThere are only two possibilities if your cup is leaking

1- The cup is not properly opened inside the vagina.

Solution:

If you feel the cup is not opened properly, insert a finger inside and reach the base of the cup. It should feel round or oval and there shouldn’t be any folds. If you feel any folds, rotate the cup until it opens completely, creating a seal. If there is no fold it means you have successfully inserted your cup!

You will hear the sound of ‘pop’ when the cup is opened properly inside. Also, the air holes in the cup will form a firm seal if the insertion is successful. You will feel resistance as you softly pull down the cup from the stem.

Question Why there are different sizes of period cups?
AnswerThat’s because no two vaginas are the same.

We are born with different shapes and anatomies inside and out. Some people will need a smaller-sized period cup for comfort and a better fit. That same person as they age or after pregnancy might find they then need a larger diameter period cup for a leak-free experience.
